Are you Discouraged with Weight Loss?

Have you ever gone on a “diet” and just couldn’t stick to it for more than a few days?  Have you ever lost weight and regained it again? Have you ever started a weight-loss journey only to find yourself discouraged and ready to quit? If you are like the average American, the answer to both questions is a resounding YES. In fact, I was a person who simply didn’t believe in diets before because I just couldn’t stick to them.  Because I’ve been there, I am on a mission to figure out WHY people fall into these traps.

We have found that a fitness routine paired with great nutrition will result in weight-loss. If we know that this works, then why do people struggle to achieve and maintain their results? I have been running some fitness challenge groups recently with people who had specific goals in losing weight and proper nutrition.  I wanted to share with you a pattern that I noticed with people in these groups.

Each person had a fitness program that they were following, along with a nutritional plan. Each person experienced results. There is, however, a huge difference between 2 groups of people, and these 2 groups formed on their own due to the choices that they made.

The first group (we will call them Group A) is not only plugged into my exclusive, private Facebook Support Group but they are fully engaged and participating in the challenge.

Group B, for whatever reason, is choosing not to participate and posting in the group.

Group A is engaged, supporting one another, talking about their meal plans, discussing setbacks, celebrating successes, connecting.

Group B is not participating

Group A appears to be having  a blast.  They are going strong with a fierce determination to reach their goals.

Group B is frustrated, thinking about quitting and complaining about how hard everything is…even though they ARE seeing results.

A person from Group A messaged me and stated  “I’m amazed at the weight I am losing and the results I am seeing with the program and with Shakeology!  It is great to see the daily pictures of food from all the members of the group, postings about successes, and see everyone pushing forward with workouts and towards their goals. We can do this. We are doing this!”

A guy from Group B emailed me “I’m not seeing much progress (after 2 weeks) and I’m thinking about quitting.  I can’t change my eating habits. I am discouraged as I feel I’ve worked my butt off…”

Do you see a pattern here?  The truth was that both of these people, when really committing to and working the program along with the nutrition part, experienced similar results.

There is hope.  We are not meant to go through life alone. It’s not how we were created. Sure we can try to go about our journey on our own, but typically it ends in sadness, loneliness, and depression. This is why SUPPORT is crucial in reaching our health & fitness goals.
